Caroline Culbertson – Editorial Director
Caroline Culbertson graduated from Duke University with her Bachelor’s in English and Environmental Science and Policy, where she also served as captain and president of the Duke University team and spent a semester studying at New York University in an arts and media program. Before her senior year of college, she interned for The Chronicle of the Horse and has had articles and photographs published on the web and in print for the publication.
After graduating, Caroline spent a year working for Olympic eventer Kelli Temple before she served as editor for the United States Eventing Association (USEA). While at USEA, Caroline managed all digital communications for the non-profit organization in Leesburg, Virginia, and wrote a number of feature articles and contributed to the editorial effort for Eventing USA. She was also recruited as an on-camera talent for several events including the USEA American Eventing Championships and the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.
Before joining Heels Down Media full time as Editorial Director, Caroline worked as a rehabilitation manager at the Furlong’s Soundness Center in Oldwick overseeing the care and treatment of sport horses recuperating from a variety of injuries or chronic conditions, working in conjunction with the highly-regarded equine veterinary practice B.W. Furlong & Associates. She continues to be an active rider and competitor, bringing two horses along in dressage and eventing while living in New Jersey.
